Lawmakers Seek Answers On Bergdahl Prisoner Swap [VIDEO]
Members of Congress have another closed-door explanation on the Taliban prisoner swap ahead of the first open hearing on Wednesday.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Capitol Hill:
These classified briefings are part explanation, part reassurance, as critics on both sides of the aisle question the deal to free five Taliban leaders from Guantanamo in exchange for Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl.
(Manchin) “Is it a good deal or a bad deal? In my mind, it’s still a bad deal. I can’t explain it back home to my fellow West Virginians.”
Democrat Joe Manchin says he’s not sold on why key lawmakers were not given a heads up on the operation.
Other leading Democrats say the deal came together very quickly and Bergdahl’s location wasn’t known until an hour before his handover.
