The Pentagon will reportedly study whether Bitcoin is a terror threat.
FOX News Radio's Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington DC:
The virtual currency is becoming more and more popular. People can buy stuff without any oversight. But that goes for terrorists too. Counter-terrorism expert Kerry Patton says Bitcoin is another way for terrorists to stay in the shadows.
Patton: "Who knows where currency is really being shuffled around to and for what types of products?"
The Treasury has already studied Bitcoin and concluded that it's too volatile in value to have much appeal to terrorists, who generally prefer 'real' money.
