Grayson Bruce is 9 years old, lives in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and is really into the cartoon “My Little Pony.”

(Bruce) “Most of the characters in the show are girls.”

He says other kids bully him for using a “My Little Pony” bag as a lunchbox.

(Bruce) “They’re taking it a little too far with, you know, punching me and pushing me down, calling me horrible names.”

His mom Noreen says the principal contacted her, saying Grayson was no longer allowed to bring that lunch box. She says that’s punishing the victim.

(Noreen) “Saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying, you might as well say a short skirt is a trigger for rape.”

The school district, in a statement, says it was addressing a disruption and does not tolerate bullying.
