Two people killed and 23 injured in Austin, Texas after a suspected drunk driver evading police runs through a barricade and into a crowd.

Jarrod Allen of FOX News Radio affiliate KLBJ reports from Austin:

Ninth and Red River packed with concert-goers from all over the country, in town for the South By Southwest music festival. Police Chief Art Acevedo says the patrol officer was stopping the driver for drunk driving about a block away when the man took off, provoking a chase.

(Acevedo) “The suspect driver then accelerated at a high rate of speed down the street right here behind me — Red River Street — and at a high rate of speed struck multiple pedestrians.”

A man and a woman on a moped were killed. Police are filing capital murder charges against that driver.
