Ever leave change behind at the airport screening station? Lots of people have... And all those loose coins left behind can really add up. But soon, the TSA may not be able to spend that cash.
FOX News Radio's Jared Halpern reports from Capitol Hill:
Last year more than half a million dollars in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters was never claimed after a TSA screening. Current law allows the agency to add that loose change to its budget.
(McCaul) "But the agency has been slow to spend it and already receives $7 billion towards its operations every year."
Instead, Texas Republican Michael McCaul says the change can go to better use.
The House unanimously approving a measure requiring the TSA to transfer that change to the USO, a non-profit serving military members and families by setting up comfortable lounges at airports.
The bill now moves to the Senate.
