The chase goes to Charlotte Motor Speedway this Saturday night for the Bank of America 500, Tony Stewart has more surgery, Dale Earnhardt Junior celebrates a birthday and Travis Kvapil finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh has this week’s race preview:

FOX in the Fast Lane.

Jeff Gordon has five career wins at Charlotte and hopes he can win again this weekend because:

Gordon: “We ran really good at Charlotte earlier this year and I think our mile and a half program has gotten so much better since then.”

Though Ryan Newman has never won at Charlotte, he’s hoping that:

Newman: “We can just build off where we were at the Coca Cola 600, I think we ended up sixth if I remember right.”

Tony Stewart in the hospital recovering after a third surgery on his leg to examine and close a wound on his shin stemming from the broken bones he suffered in an August crash at Southern Iowa Speedway.

A domestic dispute between cup driver Travis Kvapil and his wife landed the 37 year-old in jail, charged with assault and false imprisonment. Kvapil drives for BK Racing and is currently free on bond.

And congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr. He’s celebrating his 39th birthday this week and his 500th career start at Charlotte on Saturday.
