Best-selling author Tom Clancy has died. He was 66.

He was an insurance salesman turned best-selling author whose military thrillers became big screen blockbusters.

Clancy’s publisher confirms the author died in Baltimore after a brief illness, just months before his latest novel called “Command Authority” is due out. Tom Clancy was 66.
