‘Tis The Season? Kmart Airs First Holiday Ad

‘Tis the season… for Christmas ads, at least for one retailer that got into the holiday season a bit earlier than usual this year.

FOX News Radio’s Bill Vitka reports:

(Kmart ad) “Don’t let the holidays sneak up on you. Shop early with Kmart free layaway.”

With that — Kmart declares the Christmas shopping season to be underway. Their ad began airing 105 days before Christmas. It’s a record. Nobody ever launched such an early marketing kickoff to the season and consumers took notice, taking to Kmart’s Facebook page to air their complaints. Last year, Kmart’s first holiday ad didn’t air till October 28. 

There are folks who like an early start… 12% of consumers begin the holiday schlep before September, and by October, 38% of us already have our shopping engines in gear.
