Moon Can Mess With Your Sleep
Blaming full moon for sleep troubles may not be too far off according to a study published in Current Biology.
FOX News Radio’s Bill Vitka reports:
Since ancient times, the full moon has been linked to everything from romance to the downright spooky.
Now Scientists in Switzerland say they have found the first reliable evidence that the full moon can mess with your sleep. There is a steep drop in brain activity related to deep sleep. People took longer to fall asleep and sleep duration was reduced. Bodies also produce less melatonin, a hormone known to regulate sleep.
Worse sleep during a full moon. But the study says the opposite is also true: we experience better sleep during the new moon.
