BRIAN’S THOUGHTS

Brian on the NSA scandal: “We don’t need anybody’s opinion.  We don’t need anybody speculating. We need people that know how this program operates and why it actually is functioning at a level that’s supposed to keep us safe, not intrude on our privacy.”

HOUR ONE

Today, on the Army’s 238th birthday and the first ever NYC Army week, Brian was joined in studio by GEN. JOHN CAMPBELL, Vice Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army.  Brian and Gen. Campbell addressed the NSA’s collection of meta-data and the trouble caused by leaker Edward Snowden.

The General said, Both in Afghanistan and Iraq, our soldiers have benefited from the intelligence collection, we go after a network so we need both the human intelligence and the signals intelligence. What the NSA and the other intel community does for our soldiers on the ground is absolutely essential in going after the enemy.” He also addressed the concern for returning veterans and the military’s efforts to help them transition back into the civilian sector.

MICHAEL BRODERICK, actor and Marine Veteran, talked to Brian about his newest venture, The Poster Project.  Broderick said that he started with a “Band of Brothers” poster signed by eight World War II veterans, and eventually got 28 cast members to sign it, including Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.  “We’re auctioning it off on Ebay,” Broderick explained, “It’s been up since June 6th, the anniversary of D-Day and finished on Sunday, Father’s Day.”  He also said that the highest bid is currently $4,400, which Broderick said is a steal: “It’s literally a piece of history at this point.”

HOUR TWO

GENERAL MICHAEL HAYDEN, former Director of the CIA and NSA, talked to Brian about the Metadata and PRISM programs and exactly how each program accumulates information.  For the Metadata program, “ NSA gets billing records, not phone calls certainly not content.”  He went on to say, “The really important point for American privacy is, ‘What happens now? And here’s the deal: Those records stay there untouched, unless NSA can ask those records a question; a question related to terrorism,” General Hayden said.

REV. JESSE LEE PETERSON, founder and President of BOND (Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny), talked to Brian about his organization.  “For the last 23 years, we have been rebuilding the family by rebuilding the man,” Peterson said.  Some of the services BOND offers includes tutoring, counseling, aid for those who wish to further their education, help finding jobs, and more. “I’m proud to tell you that we’ve done this without one dime for the government!” Rev. Peterson said.

FOX News Digital Politics Editor, CHRIS STIREWALT, weighed in on whether or not the views on Edward Snowden are changing as more information is coming out. Stirewalt said that Snowden is a “blank slate.”  “You can write whatever you want on him,” he exclaimed.  Kilmeade vehemently disagreed:  “I disagree.  This is blatant thievery!”

HOUR THREE

FOX & Friends weekend co-host, ALISYN CAMEROTA, stopped by and talked about whether or not Rand Paul is using the NSA situation for his own political gain.  Kilmeade and Camerota took different sides. “You seem to think he’s doing this for some sort of ulterior motive,” she said, “But that’s his entire platform. I mean, he thinks that the government is too big and too broad and too sweeping and that we should get back to smaller government,” Camerota exclaimed.
