Aid Denied For West, Texas
Federal aid has been denied for a Texas town recovering from an explosion.
FOX News Radio’s Lisa Lacerra reports:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the damage in the town of West, Texas is not of the severity and size that warrants a major disaster declaration. A fertilizer plant explosion in April destroyed numerous homes and killed 15 people. The Mayor of West says the town needs Federal money to cover $57 million dollars in damages, including $40 million to rebuild a school. FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration already approved more than $7 million dollars in aid and low interest loans to residents.

Editor’s Note: The state can appeal the aid denial within 30 days of June 10th.
