Google Box Office Predictions

It’s not just the cast and plot of a film that can determine whether it will be a hit at the box office… according to a new study, Google can too.

FOX News Radio’s Sabrina Sabbagh explains:

(“The Internship”) “You got us a job at Google?//Not a job job… it’s an interview for an internship.”

One of the films out is about Google, so it’s fitting that the company would release a study about its predictive powers at the box office.

(“The Internship”) “Welcome to Google… this will not be your average internship!”

A new study shows that online searching and trailer-watching moviegoers do ahead of a film’s release can help determine how successful the film will be at the box office. The “Quantifying Movie Magic” study surveyed 99 of the top-grossing films of last year and was able to predict the opening box office numbers with 94% accuracy based on the search volume for its trailers.
