The mother of seven, accused of drug smuggling in Mexico, has spoken from jail, proclaiming her innocence.
FOX News Radio's Jeff Monosso reports:
Yanira Maldonado says she was shocked last week when the passengers were stopped south of the border ordered off the America-bound bus only to find herself hand cuffed, accused of being a drug smuggler.
(Maldonado) "I'm innocent. I'm like, this is not real. This is not happening."
Maldonado denies the 12-pounds of pot found on the bus were hers. Family members accuse Mexican officials of trying to extort money from Maldonado and her husband, the only Americans on that bus.
They say their case is very strong and they hope to win the mother of seven's freedom soon.
