Memorial Day Travel
AAA is out with its Memorial Day travel forecast. How are the roads and skies looking this year?
FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo reports:
The number of travelers this holiday weekend projected to dip slightly, about 1%, from last year.
(Hunter) “34.8 million Americans will take a trip this Memorial Day Weekend.”
Heather Hunter, spokesperson for AAA believes the reason will be fewer fliers, down 8% from last year.
Road trips though should be slightly more popular with 31.2 million Americans expected to drive 50 miles or more from Thursday to Monday. They’ll be shelling out more for gas with the national average up seven cents in the past week to $3.66.
AAA also seeing the number of travelers climbing steadily from the lows of the 2009 recession.
