Air Force Strips 17 Officers Of Missile Powers

    Nuclear Missteps

There’s new concern about the management of a nuclear missile base in North Dakota after 17 officers have been stripped of their missile launch powers.

FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson reports:

Crisis, is how the Deputy Commander of the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base put it, in a memo obtained by the Associated Press.

The base earned a grade of ‘D’ during a March test of its ability to launch its Minuteman III nuclear missiles. And that lead the Air Force to strip 17 of the base’s 150 launch control officers of their ability to control and launch those missiles.

That memo quotes the Deputy Commander as saying the base is suffering rot within its ranks.
