Three people are hospitalized in critical condition with severe burns after explosions and fire hit two fuel barges in Mobile, Alabama.

FOX News Radio's Steve Knight reports:

The barges were empty and being cleaned when the first explosion hit:

The sky lit up, orange and red. Then, there was another explosion, and another--seven in all over several hours.

The Carnival Triumph cruise ship, docked across the river, was evacuated.

Authorities don't know what caused the blasts. The barges are so unstable that they're letting the flames burn themselves out.

The fire chief didn't think the fire would spread to nearby industrial properties.
