9/11 Memorial Implements Admission Fee
Visitors to the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum will now pay a $2.00 service fee to reserve passes in advance online or by phone, which family members of the 2001 terrorist attacks say violates the Memorial’s mission.
FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports from Manhattan:
9/11 family members say the Memorial Foundation has gone back on its word by charging an admissions fee for over-the-phone and online passes only. Retired FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Riches says no one should profit off the people who died, including his son.
(Riches) “It’s another example of them making this a, you know, revenue-generating tourist attraction, rather than a memorial. It should be for free.”
On-site tickets are still free. The Memorial Foundation releasing a statement saying they’ve implemented a service fee solely for advanced reservations in order to help support the operational costs of the 9/11 Memorial.
