NY Fake Cancer Arrest
A 21-year-old woman is accused of faking cancer to raise donations to support her heroin addiction.
FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy reports from New York:
Authorities say Brittany Ozarowski raised over $100,000 saying she needed funds for cancer treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and used the money to fuel her heroin addiction.
Prosecutors say the crimes go back more than two years and that she scammed more than 25 Long Island businesses and families, including her own grandmother who sold her home to donate funds.
(Spota) “She told people she had thyroid cancer, at one point she told people she had bone cancer, at one point it was brain cancer.”
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says Ozarowski faces fraud and other charges.
