FOX on Tech: Glasses-Free Mobile 3-D
A Hollywood director is partnering with a major entertainment technology company to bring consumers easy-viewing 3-D programming on any device.
FOX News Radio’s Sabrina Sabbagh reports:
James Cameron is working with Dolby 3D to develop what he calls the best possible 3-D experience without the need for special glasses, and he is determined to deliver the technology to the masses – and not just for televisions.
(Vlaicu) “You can also put it into smartphones and tablets because we believe that the glasses-free experience is necessary to make 3-D viewing social.”
Roland Vlaicu with Dolby Labs says even though there are currently other glasses-free options on the market, their system doesn’t require viewers to sit directly in front of the screen to be effective.
