Joking MA Sheriff Catches Heat
A Massachusetts sheriff has found himself caught up in controversy over a joke that some didn’t find funny at all.
FOX News Radio’s Dave Anthony reports:
(Sheriff McDonald) “Reasonable, intelligent people understand when a joke is a joke.”
But the one Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald told at a Republican St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in Massachusetts has some calling for his resignation. It’s about three dead Presidents who give President Obama advice, the third one:
(Sheriff McDonald) “He’s the ghost of President Abraham Lincoln, whose advice is very short, which is ‘Go to the theater.'”
He’s gotten hundreds of angry phone calls and emails since, including:
(Sheriff McDonald) “Death threats from all around the United States.”
But Sheriff McDonald says he remembers Democrats joking President Bush should go hunting with Dick Cheney, who accidentally shot a hunter once.
(Sheriff McDonald) “Apparently, there is no problem when someone from the left says it.”
