New Cyber Warfare Medal Controversy
A new medal proposed by the Department of Defense is hitting a roadblock in a Congressional committee.
FOX News Radio’s Jane Metzler explains:
The Distinguished Warfare Medal would recognize the efforts of drone pilots and others who use technology to gather intelligence and take out enemy fighters. Leaders of the Senate Armed Services Committee say they have no problem honoring this country’s cyber fighters; they do take issue with ranking the medal ahead of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Committee Chair Carl Levin and Ranking Republican Jim Inhofe concerned about the message that sends to troops serving in harm’s way, asking Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel – a twice-wounded Vietnam vet – to reflect on his own combat experience.
