Mourdock Gets Mixed Response To Rape Comment

Some criticism, but not a mass exodus of support from fellow Republicans after a controversial comment from the GOP candidate in Indiana’s Senate race.

FOX News Radio’s Jennifer Keiper reports:

During a debate in Indiana this week, Richard Mourdock said that a pregnancy resulting from rape is something God intended.

GOP candidates in tight races have distanced themselves. The Romney camp says the Republican nominee doesn’t agree with the comment but still supports Mourdock’s bid. Others, like Arizona Senator John McCain say Mourdock should apologize.

But Mourdock says he spoke from the deepest level of his faith.

(Mourdock) “I cannot apologize. I would be less than faithful to my faith, if I said anything other than.”

    Democratic challenger Joe Donnelly says:

(Donnelly) “I had been hopeful that after a night of reflection, uh, Mr. Mourdock might have said differently.”

At an Indianapolis fundraiser last night Mourdock says, the money is still coming in.
