Debate Advice
President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney face each other for the first time tonight in a nationally televised debate. So kind of advice would debate experts give to these candidates before they go head to head?
FOX News Radio White House Correspondent Mike Majchrowitz reports:
One of the first rules of a Presidential debate is do no harm to yourself. Professor Allan Louden with Wake Forest University, thinks President Obama must deflect attacks while still keeping his cool.
Louden: “Stay on message, be Presidential and it isn’t worth the risk to go too far out.”
Professor Mitchell McKinney, with the University of Missouri, says Romney as challenger has to go on the attack, but without appearing to be belligerent.
McKinney: “And do so in a way that remains cordial, polite, presidential.”
McKinney says the President must make the case for another four years, while the Governor needs to argue the last four years was more than enough.
