There’s a change in how we use voicemail: because the fact is we aren’t using it, or using it much much less.
FOX News Radio’s Bill Vitka reports:
When it comes to voicemail: Rest in Peace.
(Voicemail ) “Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging system.”
Voicemail is on its deathbed according to Vonage, which finds that the number of voicemail messages dropped 8% from one year ago. More telling is that even when a message is left, voicemail retrieval plunged 14%. Meaning, we don’t even listen when you do leave a message.
What led to the last rites? We don’t like anything about voicemail: not the introduction, not the prompts, not the chore of listening in chronological order. In place of voicemail, we text, email, instant message, or just call back.
(Voicemail) “At the tone, please record your message.”
