Judge Clears AZ Immigration Law to Go Into Effect
The controversial immigration law in Arizona has picked up a key legal victory, paving the way for enforcement to begin.
FOX News Radio’s Kirstin McNary reports:
A Federal judge has cleared the way for the so-called “Show Me Your Papers” provision of Arizona’s immigration law, which requires police to verify the citizenship of people they suspect are in the country illegally.
Critics say the policy will lead to racial profiling and interfere with other law enforcement duties. Earlier this year, Gov. Jan Brewer explained her support for the law.
(Gov. Brewer) “The Federal government has failed the American people regarding immigration policy; has failed to protect its citizens.”
Brewer’s office expects the law to go into effect soon.
