“Most Dangerous” NJ City Closes Police Department

It’s a city that consistently ranks in the top 10 among the country’s “most dangerous” cities, based on crime rates – just last week, a 2-year-old was found decapitated, his mother stabbing herself in their apartment.  But officials in this New Jersey city are shutting their police department.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Foster reports:

Camden, New Jersey is planning to break up its police department, replacing it with a new Metro Division of the county police.  It’s non-union, unlike Camden’s current force, and Fraternal Order of Police President Jon Williamson tells foxnews.com this is just a move to bust the union.

The plan’s supporters say it’ll save money without any effect on public safety.  Forty-nine percent of Camden’s 460-member force will be transferred to the new county unit, with layoffs starting this week.
