The world’s first commercial space cargo venture is back on earth, being lifted aboard a barge after making its run to the International Space Station.
FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig reports:
In a return harkening back to the Apollo days…
(NASA Mission Control) “10:42am Central Time, Dragon…is…in the water.”
NASA’s Mission Control, announcing the successful splashdown of the unmanned SpaceX Dragon capsule in the Pacific Ocean, nine days after it launched from Florida en route to the Space Station.
(Musk) “In sort of, say, baseball terminology, this would be like a grand slam.”
Company CEO Elon Musk, celebrating the virtually flawless mission that saw the Dragon exchange its cargo supply for more than a half-ton of old equipment and experiments.
Musk hopes to start shuttling astronauts in the next three or four years.
