A woman accused of putting bleach in her daughter's eye has pleaded not guilty to first degree assault.
FOX News Radio's Jessica Rosenthal reports:
Authorities started investigating last May, when Jennifer Mothershead's 14-month-old daughter suffered a head injury and was airlifted to the hospital.
Something was wrong with her eye and Mothershead brought the drops in to the hospital. Lab results show it was bleach. Pierce County Deputy Prosecutor Grant Blinn says the girl suffered vision loss in her right eye.
(Blinn) "We're hopeful the child will make a full recovery, but Dr. Avery Weiss from Seattle Children's Hospital doesn't think that's likely."
Mothershead's family says she's innocent of any wrongdoing, but the little girl has been placed with her biological father.
