Medical Tests You May Not Need
Do you really need that medical test? Medical societies are recommending that doctors no longer order certain tests to cut down on spending.
FOX News Radio’s Hank Weinbloom reports:
It almost reads like a top ten list… Tests that several medical societies say you probably don’t need.
The list includes repeat colonoscopies for at least 10 years after a first negative test, brain scans if you faint but don’t have a seizure, heart stress tests if you have no heart symptoms, and antibiotics if you have sinus problems that aren’t all that serious.
These recommendations come from nine medical societies, representing 375,000 doctors. They’re designed to cut down on wasteful health care spending.
In 2010, America’s doctor bill totaled $2.6 trillion.
