AEHQ: The Politics of Petroleum
Gas prices are high, and the politics of petroleum are weighing heavily on President Obama as he fights for another term in office.
FOX News Radio White House Correspondent Mike Majchrowitz reports from the West Wing:
From America’s Election Headquarters…
(Carney) “Malarkey.”
That’s what White House Press Secretary Jay Carney calls the Republican argument that drilling for more American oil will lower oil prices. And he says Americans will see through it.
(Carney) “They’ve seen this before, and they’ve seen the empty promises that have been make often in election years.”
Republicans are also seeing malarkey.
(Barton) “Well, the White House, with all due respect, is being mischievous and is misinforming the American public.”
Texas House Republican Joe Barton says the issue will only get hotter during the summer months, when prices traditionally climb.
(Barton) “And as demand goes up, if prices stay high or go higher, consumers are going to demand action.”
