A double header here at the High Court.
After attorneys argued yesterday about whether or not Congress can force Americans to buy health insurance. This morning is about what happens if the individual mandate is ruled unconstitutional.
(Abbott) “Congress chose an innovative, difficult, unconstitutional pathway through the means of the individual mandate.”
Texas Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott arguing if that provision falls, so should the entire Affordable Care Act.
The states also challenging today an expansion to Medicaid. Arguing new federal rules will skyrocket thier budgets. That will be argued in an afternoon session.
