Securing America: Sovereign Citizens Movement
According to a new report by the Southern Poverty Law Center, there has been “explosive growth” in the number of hate and anti-government groups.
FOX Chief Intelligence Correspondent Catherine Herridge reports from Washington in our ongoing series on national security:
The new report, from the Southern Poverty Law Center, flags the Sovereign Citizens Movement as a growing domestic threat. With an estimated 300,000 members, the movement believes that federal, state and local governments operate illegally.
The group often comes into conflict with local law enforcement because they don’t carry drivers licenses. Since 2000, at least six cops have been killed by the movement. The report blames a bad economy and the internet as the drivers of extremist ideology.
