“The Hunger Games” Hype
The film adaptation of “The Hunger Games” is set to hit theaters in a few weeks. Will it take the crown from franchises like “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” for the next huge teen movie? Or is there a wider appeal?
FOX News Radio Entertainment Correspondent Sabrina Sabbagh reports:
(film audio) “The Hunger Games” doesn’t even hit theaters until the end of the month, but early tracking reports suggest that when the film does open, its box office receipts will be ridiculously huge. Some industry experts expect the first film in the planned franchise to take at least $70 million dollars opening weekend. (film audio)
The original “Twilight” opened to $69.6 million in 2008, but ‘The Hunger Games’ books appeal to a much broader audience, evident by the fact that they’re currently the top one, two, and three, books on the New York Times best-sellers list.
