WI Ad Campaign Seeks to Keep Kids Out of Beds
Three Milwaukee babies died within a 48-hour period, all killed while sleeping with their parents. This even after a city campaign warning parents not to do it.

Signs have gone up around Milwaukee showing a sleeping baby in a bed with a butcher knife. The message: that putting your baby in your bed can be just as dangerous. In one case, a 2-month-old has died after his 3-year-old brother ended up on top of him as they slept in a bed with two adults. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett…
(Barrett) “I am frustrated by this news. I am disappointed by this news. But mostly, I’m very sad.”
Patricia McManus with the Black Health Coalition says there needs to be more than one approach with the city’s message.
(McManus) “If you don’t explain the risks to them, and just tell them ‘don’t do it,’ that doesn’t make sense to people.”
There have been four sleep-related infant deaths in Milwaukee this year.
