The case of a missing Utah woman has taken a tragic turn.
Susan Powell has been missing since 2009. Now, her kids and husband - the man long considered a person of interest in the case - are dead in an apparent murder-suicide. Josh Powell sent an email to his lawyer minutes before his house exploded, reading simply "I'm sorry, goodbye."
FOX News Radio's Courtney Kealy has details:
Two years after his wife's disappearance, Josh Powell - the only person of interest in the case - is dead. Officials are calling it a murder-suicide, Powell setting fire to his home in Graham, Washington, killing himself and his two sons days after he was denied custody and ordered by a judge to undergo a psychological evaluation. Neighbors say they're stunned...
(Sands) "Thinking that nobody was in there, I was, like, okay about it and everything. And then I found out that there was two kids in there."
Robyn Sands lives near the Powell house.
(Sands) "It's just heart breaking that he would do this to the rest of the family."
Washington state authorities are expected to be scrutinized about whether they could have done more to protect Powell's children.
