The creator of Soul Train, Don Cornelius, has died after an apparent suicide. Police believe Cornelius shot himself in the head at his home.
FOX News Radio's Sabrina Sabbagh reports:
Don Cornelius was found at his Los Angeles home this morning with what police say was a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was transported to a local hospital, but pronounced dead shortly after. With the creation of 'Soul Train', Cornelius helped break down racial barriers, exposing America to black culture.

Despite his early success, Cornelius had a troubled marriage and in 2009, was sentenced to three years' probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor spousal battery.
He was 75.
