When something hurts, it hurts and you feel the pain.  But who is more sensitive to pain, men or women?  The Journal of Pain has published a study that takes a look at that very question.

FOX News Radio's Bill Vitka has those results:

When it comes to pain, women feel it more than men.  Be it a back problem, arthritis or a sinus infection, women appear to suffer more, according to the latest research from Stanford University.

In 21 of 22 ailments investigated - including diabetes, hypertension, ankle injuries and joint and inflammatory pain - women reported higher levels of pain.

What the data doesn't tell us is why.  One possibility is that men have been socialized to be more stoic - they underreport pain.  But that alone does not account for the full scope of the gender gap.
