Iran is, once again, escalating talk about its nuclear program and possible reaction to sanctions against it.
FOX News Radio's Chris Foster reports:
An Iranian newspaper quotes a Revolutionary Guard commander as saying the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf will be closed off if Iran's oil exports are blocked over its nuclear program. That same paper claims Iran is enriching uranium for a nuclear energy program.
(Panetta) "Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No. But we know they're trying to develop a nuclear capability."
...Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on CBS "Face the Nation."
(Panetta) "Our 'red line' to Iran is do not develop a nuclear weapon. That's a red line for us."
He says while no response is off the table...
(Panetta) "The responsible thing to do right now is to keep putting diplomatic and economic pressure on them to force them to do the right thing."
