Housecall for Health: Bigger Babies in 2012

According to a new study, babies are being born bigger than ever before.  Is there something in the water?

FOX’s Colleen Cappon explores the stats in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

2012 may prove to be a year with bigger babies than ever before.

According to a study in the “Journal of Pediatrics,” the size of newborn babies has been on a steady incline since the 1920’s.  Data showed that babies born after 1970 were about one pound heavier and a half-inch longer than those born in earlier decades.

Experts speculate that a higher body mass index in pregnant women could be the cause.
