U.S. Weighs Yemen Request For Saleh Medical Treatment
Yemen’s outgoing President is asking the U.S. to allow him in for advanced medical treatment. It’s a request that the Obama administration is considering in the wake of violent protests in the country.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
President Ali Abdullah Saleh was seriously wounded back in June during an attack on his compound. A senior Administration official now says Saleh’s office is asking that the former Yemeni ruler be allowed to get specialized treatment in the U.S.
Saleh said over the weekend he was heading to the U.S. to help restore calm in his own country. Saleh’s presence in Yemen has angered many who believe he’s trying to keep power, despite an agreement to step down.
