NORAD Gears Up to Track Santa Claus

The countdown clock is rolling down. Not on the payroll tax cut, but for the big man to get his sleigh loaded up and into the air… and the folks over at NORAD are gearing up to make sure they know he’s on time.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig reports:

Beginning first thing tomorrow morning, the North American Aerospace Defense Command — or NORAD — will fire up their radars, wake up their spotters and be on the lookout for Santa Claus.

“When Santa leaves the North Pole, we have our north warning system series of radars – they’re high-powered radars – they pick him up there, and then NORAD trackes missile launches with satellites that are up in space, and we’re able to pick up the infrared signature of Rudolph’s nose.”

Lieutenant Desmond James explaining how they’ll follow ‘Ol Saint Nick from Russia, down to Australia, across Africa and Europe, over the Atlantic, and finally at midnight Sunday morning, the Eastern US.
