Major League Baseball's offseason has taken a tragic turn with word that a young player has been murdered.

FOX News Radio's Chris Hoenig has the details:

Seattle Mariners' left fielder Greg Halman, found stabbed to death in his native Holland Monday morning.  The 24-year-old was considered an up-and-comer, impressing with both his bat and his glove.

(Play-by-play) "Little looper...coming in, left fielder Halman.  He's there!  Yes, sir.  Big play, Greg Halman!"

That play coming against the Phillies last June on FOX Sports.

Rotterdam police arrested Halman's 22-year-old brother in connection with the murder.  Halman joined Seattle at just 16, the club calling him "a tremendous teammate."  MLB Commissioner Bud Selig also releasing a statement, saying that the death is painful for all those throughout the game.
