A Major League Baseball player has been kidnapped in Venezuela.

FOX News Radio's Eben Brown reports:

Wilson Ramos, the star rookie Catcher on the Washington Nationals was kidnaped by what could only be described as an armed gang down in his home country of Venezuela.  He was at his family home when it happened, and so far police have only found the gang's car, abandoned.  There has been no contact from the abductors; not even a ransom demand.  Ramos went home to Venezuela to play professional ball in a winter league.  Police there say armed kidnappings have been spiking there.  More than 600 were reported in 2009.

In Miami, Eben Brown, FOX News Radio.
