Securing America: Emergency Alert System Gets Tested Nationally.

The Emergency Alert System (EAS) gets tested nationally this week.

FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:

We’ve heard these tests in our local communities for decades.

But this Wednesday, November 9th, at 2pm eastern time the Emergency Alert System gets it’s first ever nationwide test.

The purpose – to allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to assess how well the Emergency Alert System would perform its primary function alerting the public about a national emergency.

Wednesday’s EAS test will occur simultaneously across the US and its territories, lasting about 30 seconds before resuming back to regular programming.
