Westboro Baptist Protest Ruling

A Federal Appeals court has made a ruling about controversial protests held near soldiers’ funerals.

FOX News Radio’s Hank Weinbloom reports:

The funeral protesters, members of the Westboro Baptist Church deeply offend many people. (natural sound of protests) And elicit, noisy counter-protests like this one with claims like American soldiers are killed because God is angry at the U.S. for being tolerant of homosexuality.  But while offensive to many, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Omaha, Nebraska ruled; these protests, as long as they’re peaceful, are legal and protected by the constitutional right to free speech.  The ruling reverses a lower court decision and strikes down a law in Missouri designed to keep protesters several hundred feet away from funeral or memorial services.
