Housecall for Health: Dirty Hospital Curtains

Any hospital visit may be dreaded, but there may be a factor that could lead to more harm than good.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon has details in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

You might want to be a little more mindful of what you touch during a hospital visit.

A new study out of the University of Iowa says privacy curtains that separate patients are frequently contaminated with bacteria.  The curtains often hang for a long time and are difficult to disinfect.  Even when curtains are changed, data shows that contamination occurs quickly.

Among the bacteria found were staph, MRSA and various types of gut bacteria.
