U.N.: Palestinian Statehood Requested, Israel Offers Challenge
Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas has formally submitted his request to the United Nations for acceptance as a member state. It’s a plan the U.S. has vowed to veto at the Security Council, and one that drew a challenge from the Israeli Prime Minister.
