Housecall for Health: Human-Healing Sharks

One of the most feared and deadliest creatures of the sea could have something to cure many common diseases.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

Scientists have discovered that a chemical derived from sharks could help protect humans against viral infections like Hepatitis.

Researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center found that the chemical squalamine was effective in fighting a range of human viruses from Yellow Fever to Hepatitis B, C and D.  Squalamine has already been used in human clinical trials for the treatment of cancer of eye disorders.
