Housecall for Health: Breast Cancer Breakthrough

An important discovery has been made, and it may provide hope for millions of people across the country and around the world.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

A 25-year-old student has made a scientific breakthrough that could help put an end to breast cancer.

Luke Piggott, from Cardiff University in Wales, discovered a way to switch off breast cancer stem cells’ drug resistance.  Cancer stem cells are a small portion of the cells in tumors, but are believed to be responsible for cancer growth.

In lab experiments, the method reduced secondary tumors by 98%, and repeat treatments killed cancer stem cells if they reappeared.
