U.S. Poverty Rate Jumps to a 27 Year High

     

    One in six Americans are living in poverty.  That’s according to a new report from the Census Bureau.

    FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington DC:

    More than 46 million people are considered to be living in poverty.  That represents one in six Americans according to the Census Bureau.

    The number of people lacking health insurance also jumped last year to nearly 50 million. Mostly attributed to folks losing employer-provided insurance.

    The Census Bureau statistics reflect last year’s unemployment rate which averaged 9 point six percent.

    Household incomes also fell last year to about 49-thousand dollars.
